Well we all packed up on the 8th December and headed North to the mighty Taranaki!! It was a good trip up, no music made for interesting conversation with Nate in the back and Grandad and I in the front. Shame Bumble wasnt with us to make it that much better. Anyway...we reached the track quite early around 4pm, the car flew through the scruteneering and all we had to do was tack up the mirror mount in the car.
Heat one:
i was off grid 7, with this being my best grid draw for the night I thought to myself that I needed to make this one count. At the drop of the flag we were off, taking it easy into the first corner as I thought to myself "you cant win the race in the 1st corner", I managed to keep pointing in the right direction and bring her home in 5th which I was happy with.
Heat 2:
This heat saw me have my worse grid for the night, grid 23 of a 32 grid field. Not much to say about this heat but once again managed to stay out of trouble and bring her home in 6th (I thought I was around 10th) so was quite happy when I saw the result.
Heat 3:
sitting in 3rd= going into this race I knew it was going to be a Wellington vs Rotorua Teams race. Just before I went onto the dummy grid we realised I had no clutch, and when I did it would stick on and wouldnt engage. We fixed it enough to get me out on the track. I had grid 18 for this last and very important race. Right off the start I went to change from 2nd gear to 3rd, that was fine but when I took my foot off the clutch I realised that the clutch had jammed on!! Ending my hopes of winning the title, BUT at that moment I got a big shunt from behind from someone which was enough to get my clutch un-jamed and back up and going. Now the fun started, with Rotorua and Mount cars everywhere trying to stop us Welly boys we knew it was going to be hard, I managed to avoid the trouble for most of the race until 94r caught my left wheel guard and put me backwards into the wall in turn one. After catching my breath I grabed a gear and was off, about 3 laps later the exact same thing happend but this time it was 81r who had got me. As all that was happening in my rearview mirror Paul Fairbrother 52w (2nd on points going into that race) got rolled! in a postion where he would have won the title. On the restart I got the jump on 81r and was out of danger for a while, the last 3 or 4 laps of the race I had 23h hot on my rear bumper which was adding to the pressure. Some how I managed to keep away from him to bring the car home in 3rd, Enough to take my 1st ever title!!
Huge thanks must go out to the Wellington boys for helping me out in the later races and congrats to Rhys Greig 28w for getting 2nd and Allan McRobbie 10r for his 3rd. If there was a hard luck award for the night I would have to give it to Paul Fairbrother (52w), he was in top form all night and had his car flying. He will be one to watch out for at the NZ Champs in a few months.
untill next time....

NZ Stockcar Teams
Sorry for taking so long to update this people, I have been on holiday the last week with no access to a computer, so here’s the update for the NZ Teams champs at Wellington:
race 1:
we had drawn Mt Maunganui and Kihikihi in our group. Our 1st race was against the Mount. I was sitting this race out as we all knew it was going to be our toughest race of the night and we needed all the experience we could get on the dirt. We go off to a good start having the lead and 2nd with 11m Scott in 3rd, I can’t remember much of this race but it was a good battle with Wellington taking the win.
Race 2:
This was the last race of the night against Kihikihi and Graeme Gaskin had told me in the team meeting I was starting off grid 2 and was going to be a runner, I was a little nervous about being a runner purely because if you all remember back to last years teams when I was a runner and got put away big time by Daniel Mathews. Anyway... at the drop of the flag Kyle Lane from the front row took Justin Cunningham to the infield which gave me a clear run to the front, I was leading the race for a few laps with Kyle on my tail, noticing that he was going faster I pulled over to let him through. after about 6 of the 10 laps there was a red light, of the start of the red light I managed to jump back into the lead as Kyle had been getting some attention from Kihikihi, and that was how the race was going to finish, me taking the flag (I still cant believe I didn’t roll!) Kyle 2nd and I think Dale Robertson and Richie Gaskin came in 3rd an 4th.
Semi-Final:
Our semi was against a very strong looking Rotorua team. I knew I was the spare car for this race as once again we needed our strongest team on the dirt, BUT in our hot laps Dave Marshall 55w stuffed his gearbox! so just as I was about to turn the car off and relax for a lil bit Mr Gaskin came over to my window and told me that I was replacing Dave, to be honest I was quite excited to get out on the dirt but at the same time nervous as heck too.
I was off row 2 again and at the drop of the flag the Rotorua car who was in grid 2 (row 1) stood on the brakes, little did Rotorua know we were expecting them to do that (they had done it up at the mount earlier in the year) so my race as a runner had now turned into a blocker. I feel I didn’t do as much in the race as I could of because I had a shot at Alan McRobbie and went wide to try get him and in doing so Ivan King I think it was took me into the wall breaking my LF calliper which left me with next to no steering. Knowing McRobbie was leading and not being able to do much about it really sucked! Thankfully Allen Levien was in fine form catching McRobbie and giving him a serve which allowed Richard Gaskin 51w to take the win!! So off to the finals it was for the Young Guns.
Final:
our final was against the mighty Hawkes Bay, with them making the final last year and looking strong in beating Palmy North in the semi-final we knew this was going to be a really tough race.
I was sitting this one out which I didn’t mind. From the green flag Kyle Lane took off in the lead with a bay car and I think it was 55w in pursuit, after about 3 or so laps the 55w machine had smoke pouring out of the engine! Dave wisely pulled off but it was too late, a blown engine for Dave! With 1 car down already the others stepped it up, Kyle was still leading and Dale Robinson had taken over 3rd place. Allen Levien was doing one of the best races as a blocker of his life! Hitting anything that looked like it could take out our leaders, once the bay car was removed from 2nd place it was a Wellington 1st and 2nd with about 5 laps remaining. Kyle was having a little bit of trouble with the bay blockers but he kept a cool head and drove like Tony Mac in his super stock! As the white flag came out there were no bay runners and only a couple of blockers, Kyle managed to get around them and take the win!! The Young Guns had won the title AGAIN for the 3rd year in a row!!!
I must thank Graeme Gaskin for the time he puts into this meeting and the effort and knowledge he gives us and especially me, also the rest of the team! It was great getting to race with you all and I hope I can do it again next year.
Lastly my pit crew and supporters!

Friday
Well it was an early start for all I think Jordan, Nathan, Steve and Liana left Wellington at 4am and I Left Palmerston North about 7, got to the track about 930am. I arrived at the track to see Jordan going through Scrutineering went through all good bar one fault the tap under the fuel tank was loose so back to the trailer tightened it up back to the SNZ guy who passed Jordy, put the car on the infield with the other cars that had already gone through. Now the long wait till 630pm the grand parade, During this long wait we had we thought it would be safer to put up our tent at 11am rather than 11pm in pitch black so off to the camping ground.
us and 98v Ministock were the 1st to arrive so we had 1st pick at the best sites, We found a good site and started pitching our tent, once this was up we decided to hang out and have some down time before the 1st nights racing, about 2pm we decided to head to the track, Our 1st race wasn’t till race 6 of the night so it meant we got to see some of the racing before Jordy went out,
Race 1: Jordy was off grid 3 so we were hopeful of a good result coming into the 1st corner he got caught up with Todd O'Donnell and their front bumpers got locked together for a couple of laps, When they finally got freed Jordy looked smooth but then the steering box started to give him grief, turning into a corner and then half way around, would flick him around but got better as the race got on , When he came into the pit we thought it was our set up so we tweaked it a bit, chucked more fuel in (Always the best thing to put in),
Race 2: Grid 13 right in the middle of it, off he went did a few laps before one of the mount guys decided to have some fun and put Jordy into the wall and then steering played havoc again.
Race 3: We knew we didn’t have a chance for the top 2 round for the second night so Jordy was going to help out 22w Richard Gaskin, 12w Simon Hendry and 84b Michael McLachlan to get into one of the top two groups as they did.
Saturday
About 11am Jordy and the rest of us decided not to race sat night as the steering was not a 100%, So that day we got in contact with Ikey Hautapu 14p and his team and we went to the indoor go carts at Inglewood, Well what a load of fun they are awesome racing there was Jordy, Me, Nathan. Quinny, Quinny’s Girlfriend, Ikey 14p and Darren Quirk.
Would like to say a big thank you to Stratford for an A+ Event and to everyone involved in making this happen without you guys it wouldn’t have been such a hit
Big Congratulations to Allan McRobbie, Gerry Linklater and Richard Gaskin the new 1 2 3nz's
And I am sure Jordy would like to thank his crew, Steve Nathan Liana and Daniel. Also a huge thanks to Wayne Kearns (Mafia Motorsports) & Ric Horridge 14a for their kind assistance in the way of donations for our fundraising ventures to get Jordy to the South Island.
Cheers

Easter Champs and also Off Season 23.06.2008
Well for starters ok ok I'm sorry people as it has been a LONG time since my last up-date!! so long infact i cant remember what's happend!!
well I'll start with the trip down south!!
What a trip!! i loved it!! It was a great trip 1 getting 2nd overall at the Woodford Glen Easter champs in a 6 race (2 night) championship! I now have a favourite track too!
It was a great trip with a great bunch of people and we had a few hicups along the way like when the coupling snaped off my Trailor about 2km south of Arthurs Pass.
Anyway.. it was one of the best memorys I have of speedway racing and all the southern folk made it a welcoming trip and I cant wait till next year's one no matter what car I am driving.
off season:
Well to be honest nothing has happend, car was washed, wing, body and bonnet were taken off and it has sat in the garage since then. I just have no motivation at the moment for the car, as I am working 11 hour days and just want to sleep and spend time with my partner Liana when I get home.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I hope to see you all next season!
Cheers Jordy Keene 77w!
P.S....i have a few options up my sleeve on what will be happening next season.
